WTA player Mahak Jain returned to California with another big WIN in Ojai

The Ojai, a longest standing Tennis Tournament in the US with the most participants.  The week long tournament includes Juniors, Pac-12, D-III, Independent College, Community College and Open Championships.

Many of the greats of tennis have played in Ojai, including Bill Tilden, Tony Trabert, Bobby Riggs, Jack Kramer, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, Pancho Gonzales, Alex Olmedo, Stan Smith, Jimmy Connors, Tracy Austin, Michael Chang, Lindsay Davenport, Pete Sampras and the Bryan twins. The “Wall of Fame” at the grandstand in Libbey Park names 89 players who competed at Ojai, and won one or more of the major championships which make up the tennis “Grand Slam.”

WTA player Mahak J. returned to California to train for her professional tour and it just so happened that she was here at the right time for this event.  Her WTA ranking earned her a spot directly into the Main Draw.  She competed and fought hard on her way to the title.  An impressive win in the Semi-finals against a more experienced player, also a former WTA 280.  A tough 3-set match that lasted over 3 hours. 

Charged with more confidence after a tough win, Mahak went on to win the Finals match convincingly 6-4 and 6-4.  Video below is the Championship point of the tournament.
