What weekend to wrap up our 2014 USTA league season! The much anticipated 2014 year-end USTA Sectional Championships were delayed for more than 2 hours; it was scheduled to start at 9am on Saturday 12/6/2014, but the first match didn’t start until 11:30am.  Delayed but no lack of excitements and emotions.
First to battle was our 10U Blue Team, our players were itching to play after long rain delay.  They took the courts by storm dominating the first round opponent with a perfect score of 32-0 after 4 rounds of play, the first bagel at a team Sectional event.  The following 8 rounds were slightly more challenging but never threatening.  Our Blue team won the Sectional Championship again, successfully depending the title while keeping a 25-match winning streak and counting…

Our 10U Red team was in action for the first time at a Sectional Event.  Facing 2 very tough opponents, our Red team lost but not without a fight.  There were nail-biting moments and uncontrolled body spasms from the parents, while some players teared up with emotions.  It was a tough event for such a young team, yet a great learning experience indeed.  We took home 3rd place.
Perhaps, the most exciting event came from our 12U team.  First time playing a Sectional event, our 12U team without a doubt was very nervous.  We came together and pulled off comfortable wins in the early rounds on this tournament.  It all came down to the final match up between us and Belverdere Tennis Club (from the San Francisco North bay area).  Each match up played a total of 4 rounds, 2 matches per round.  It was so close during each round that no one would know until the completion of the very final match, final game and even the final point.  It really could have gone either way, we pulled it off at winning just 1 game more – NOT one match, but just 1 single game that determined this 2014 12U Sectional Championship.  Wow!
Congratulations to our 10U and 12U team for capturing the Sectional Championship title, the highest level for team competition at their level.  Thank you parents for your tremendous support and help throughout this event.  You made it feel like we were playing on our home court the entire time.  We are looking forward to the 2015 season which starts in March 2015.
Last but not least, Go NorCaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!
