Setting records at USTA Team Sectional Championships, Stanford University June 2016

With 6 teams going into the 2016 Spring League season, another great season we had with all 6 teams qualifying for sectional championship.  Again, it will take place in the beautiful tennis complex at Stanford University.  3 10U teams and 3 12U teams are set to roll out.

Our top 10U Blue team proved again too strong for the competition winning the title with a perfect score of 96 games, while only dropping 2 games in the entire tournament. Srikar, our top player leads the team with an amazing winning record of 5 consecutive champions.

It wasn’t smooth-sailing for our Volt team, with only 4 players on the roster, with 1 being under the weather, we had to default 8 games in each round.  A massive blow to the team considering this championship is based on accumulative scoring.  Luckily, our 4th player managed to show up on the 2nd day to give it all to his team.  In the final match, by the third round, we knew we had it and amazingly our players pulled it off.

Our newest 10U also didn’t disappoint.  Although with only young players having played their first season, these boys pulled it together and ended up at 3rd place -there were just 1 game away from 2nd place finish.

Fast forward, 3 weeks later, three of our 10U teams took home 2 championship titles at their division.  And here we are back at it again. Stanford University Taube Family Tennis Stadium for the 12U division.  Three of our 12U teams also made it to sectionals, 2 Green-ball and 1 Yellow-ball team.

Our 12U Volt team was the first team to clinch the title in their B-flight, with the most game won.  Amazingly, there were only 2 games keeping them ahead of the 2nd place finisher.  Congrats! to the Volt team, this is only the 2nd time they made it to sectionals and already claiming the title.

Our 12U Blue team proved too strong in the A-flight and captured another title to keep up with our “Winning Tradition”

Next and the final stop is our 12U yellow-ball team, this is our first season participating in this event.  The team went undefeated during the regular season and waited no time to claim their first 12U yellow-ball title.  The score didn’t say much of how tough it was in each and every match. Here they are posting and enjoying their victory in the heart of the Stadium.

With all 6 teams qualified for sectional championship and 5 teams walked away with 1st place finish.  What a great season we had, hats off to our players for working very hard in preparing for league competition as well as individual tournaments.  Congrats! and go NorCal!
