Blistering sun on this summer weekend didn’t deter players from coming all over to the USTA Northern California 10U and 12U Individual Sectional Championships. Top 16 players in each division, boys and girls were to play out for the title. Up to 13 players from our academy have qualified for this biannual event and they came out firing.
First, the 10U girls division, thanks to some withdraw, Isha came in as a wild card but surprised all by going the distance. Despite playing her first tournament, Isha fought hard and earned 3rd place in Singles and Champion in doubles.
For the 10U boys division, Kartik dominated the competition and ran away withthe win, successfully defended his title -he won it last year. He then teamed up with another of our players, Aryan and the two won doubles.
For the 12U girls division, Pramati put up another great performance winning the title while dropping only 7 games in total. What an amazing feat considering she has only started playing 12U tournaments for only a couple of months. Pramati teamed up with Emily -another NorCal Academy player- together they captured the doubles title.
What a great tournament, many players fought hard despite the relentless heat. A few more titles under the belt but not time to relax. Let’s get back on the practice court and train for the next event. Go NorCal !
